International Stress Management Association (ISMA)
The organisation was set up in 1973 as an interdisciplinary body, the American Association for the Advancement of Tension Control. The first meeting of the Association was held in Chicago at the Bismarck Hotel in in 1974. The organisation has had two name changes since its formation reflecting developments in the field and international status. It became the International Stress and Tension-Control Association and now it is the International Stress Management Association (ISMA).
